Mark Tant is the most experienced SCUBA Instructor anywhere, maintaining Active Status over 45 years in a row!
He has been an Openwater Instructor to Instructor Trainer with PADI, IDEA, NAUI, SSI and SDI.  Mark has safely trained and certified thousands of divers here for the better part of 5 decades.

He also runs group trips with our divers all over the world.  Mark is also an accomplished underwater photographer that has been published in several worldwide publications as well as many diving related websites and training manuals. 

He was a Police Officer for the City of Hoover for 25 years and was the recipient of the prestigious Police Officer of the Year in 2008.  While serving as an Officer he was a member of the City of Hoovers first Special Response Dive Team.

Mark grew up diving here at SSDS under his uncle and our founder, the legendary diving pioneer Bill Tant.
